Tiger Woods 2012 British Open Odds & Predictions

Looking to win his first major championship since the 2008 U.S. Open, Tiger Woods returns to the site where he won his last British Open.

It was six years ago that Woods was at the pinnacle of the golf world as he had just finished winning his second consecutive Open Championship by two strokes.

It was an event he will never forget, as it was his first taste of competition following the death of his father. In what seems like an eternity later, Woods is now a victorious weekend away from regaining his No.1 status in the world rankings.

However, more importantly, a win at the 2012 British Open would put him at just three away from reaching Jack Nicklaus’ all-time best, 18 major championships for his career.

Of course, most of the discussions following his infamous PR debacle have been about whether or not he would ever win another major. When asked about that very same topic this week, Woods was very methodical in his response.

“I just try and put myself there,” he said. “I think that if I continue putting myself there enough times, then I’ll win major championships.”

But while things seem to be finally be coming back around for Woods, his play this season has been anything but consistent. One week, we get a glimpse of the old Tiger, winning tournaments and hoisting trophies, while the following week we see him missing cuts and taking steps back in his progress. Woods also answered those concerns this week in a very honest manner.

“If I knew the answer, I’d tell you,” Woods added. “But I don’t. I just keep trying to work and keep trying to get better. And I’ve had a few wins this year, which is good. But also I’ve had a few poor performances, as well. So I’m just trying to get better, get more consistent. And that’s something I’m looking forward to in the future.”
