Jessica Dorrell Scandal Gets Bobby Petrino Fired (VIDEO)

The inevitable has finally happened, as Arkansas head football coach Bobby Petrino has been fired following his affair with 25-year-old, former Razorbacks volleyball player, Jessica Dorrell.

The report of Petrino’s firing after four seasons surfaced on Tuesday when the school’s athletic director Jeff Long revealed a long list of offenses by the former NFL coach. According to Long, Petrino’s biggest mistake was the hiring of his alleged mistress with whom he was involved in a motorcycle accident on April 1^st.

“Coach Petrino abused his authority when over the past few weeks he made a staff decision and personal choices that benefited himself and jeopardized the integrity of the football program,” he said.

Given plenty of opportunities to come clean following the crash, the 51-year-old Petrino chose to lie about the affair and subsequent workplace favoritism, which ultimately led to his firing. Petrino hired Dorrell on March 28^th, just four days before the accident, after she was one of three finalists out of 159 applicants. She was hired a short time after being one of the finalists for the position.

“He made the decision, a conscious decision, to mislead the public on Tuesday, and in doing so negatively and adversely affected the reputation of the University of Arkansas and our football program,” Long said. “In short, coach Petrino engaged in a pattern of misleading and manipulative behavior designed to deceive me and members of the athletic staff, both before and after the motorcycle accident.”

Long also revealed that Petrino, who’s married with four children, not only had a long-term “significant” affair with Dorrell, but that at one point even gave her $20,000 “gift”. It is believed that the money did in fact come from Petrino and not the university. The unemployed coach issued the following statement:

“All I have been able to think about is the number of people I’ve let down by making selfish decisions. I chose to engage in an improper relationship. I also made several poor decisions following the end of that relationship and in the aftermath of the accident. I accept full responsibility for what has happened.”
