Clippers vs Magic Free NBA Basketball Predictions Feb. 6th 2012
Just because Blake Griffin will not be defending his Slam Dunk title this year doesn’t mean that Orlando, FL, fans will not be able to seem him do what he does best. In fact, All-Star weekend might arrive a little early in Orlando, as tonight the Magic welcome the Pacific Division leading LA Clippers to Amway Arena.
This exciting matchup is scheduled to get underway tonight at 7 PM ET live on SunSpO and/or FSW-LAC. Free NBA Basketball Predictions experts believe that the Clippers and Magic will combine and score an OVER/UNDER total of 191 points. Interestingly, Los Angeles [-1] comes into this game as the betting odds favorites to defeat Orlando [+1] at home by a free throw in this game.
With a 1½ game lead over the Lakers in the Division, the All-Star duo of Griffin and Chris Paul will need to make some much-needed space between the intracity rivals. The Clippers are 4-4 on the road and 7 for their last 10 games played. After a very disappointing, 91-112, performance versus Denver at home, LA was able to get right back on the horse with a victory over the lowly Washington Wizards Saturday night.
“When we get stops, we’re tough to guard in transition,” Paul said. “We’ve got the shooters, we’ve got the high fliers and all that. When we defend teams, we’re tough to beat.”
For the Magic, their current three-game win streak has done little to take away the anxiety caused by the likelihood that Dwight Howard will be traded immediately after the All-Star break. According to various reports, the only reason “Superman” isn’t in a different uniform yet, is simply because team owners want to wait until after the All-Star festivities to ship out the big man.
The general consensus is that Howard may be headed to Tinseltown to play alongside Kobe Bryant as a member of the hated Lakers. If that’s the case, the Purple and Gold would be giving up Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum for Howard, but may also get a guy like Jameer Nelson as part of the deal.
If so, things might get a little interesting yet again in the City of Angels, as one has to believe a trade for Howard would put the Lake Show in place to win the division for a fifth consecutive year, and even contend for a title. As far as this game is concerned, I actually like the Magic to play well, especially Howard. I expect the big man to come out and establish his presence early on his way to a huge game in the scoring and rebound column. Want more free NBA basketball picks?
